Once I Was a Boy

Hanus Hachenburg wrote the following song in the Theresienstadt Ghetto, in 1944.

Mark in blue, the lines that describe the reason Hanus was no longer a child.

Once I Was a Boy/ Hanus Hachenburg

(…)
Once I was a boy
Three years ago.
That boy dreamed of another world.
I was a child, three years ago.
But now I am grown
And my soul is grown

It is not a child that saw the face of fear.
